There are ways of making a little extra money from home by participating in survey panels, get-paid-to, (GPT) sites or pay-to-click (PTC) sites. These sites offer incentives like cash, gift cards, and other rewards in exchange for your participation in various activities, such as taking surveys.

What’s so great about these sites?

You don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home to use them! In addition, you can log on at any time, day or night. Most everyone can use some extra cash. You could probably use some, too. Use your extra cash to stock up on diapers, buy yourself something nice, or just keep it for a rainy day.

If you have a computer with internet connection, you’re in business! Just pick a site or two to join (for free) and start earning today. Beware of scam sites! These sites have become so popular, that some see it as a way to harvest personal information or at least, use you to make themselves some money.

It’s better if you do some research before signing up with any of these websites.

This review is about the site called ClixSense. It’s a PTC site and by the end of this review, you’ll not only know if it’s a scam or not, but you’ll also have better information for making a decision on whether or not to join it.

Is ClixSense a real company?

ClixSense began in 2007 as a strictly pay-to-click website. This means members earn to click on videos, view websites and advertisements, and other simple tasks. In 2012, they also started providing quality market research with unlimited earning potential.

ClixSense has become one of the most recommended sites for earning online and their claim is that they’ve paid their members more than 27 million dollars to date. That’s a LOT of money, especially when comparing to other legit paid survey sites.

You must be 16 to join and live in the United States or one of the international countries where it is permits. It’s free to join and free to participate. ClixSense only allows one account per household. This rule is strictly enforced; ClixSense even asks that you not share your computer or device with another member.

How to start with ClixSense

To become a member of ClixSense, you have to provide first and last name, email, and a username. They are adamant about you using your real name; it’s actually in their User Agreement. Once you’ve verified your email, you are able to check out the site. Earning money on ClixSense may seem slow, but there are a variety of ways to do so and some earn more than others.

The following are ways in which you can earn money:

Viewing advertisements- Even though this earns very little, using a few cents each, it all adds up. Viewing ads is actually the main business for ClixSense and is what the site was first established for before they expanded to add other tasks as well. Since the pay rate is low, it’s advisable to click on the ”Regular Ads” section and then click on Mini and Standard ads; these have higher pay rates.

Unless you are just killing time, try not to click Sticky ads because they are more time-consuming. In order to prove you watch these ads, when you click one, it will open in another tab, and once it finishes, you will need to click a picture to verify you’re not a robot.

A timer will then begin and you have to stay on the page until it completely counts down. You will then receive a message validating your ”click”.

Surveys- This is a popular task and some sites do only surveys. Surveys pay better than clicking ads, so if you are trying to make money, you definitely want to do some surveys. They generally pay up to $5 and last from ten to thirty minutes.

You can complete as many surveys as are available to you depending on specific factors. Make sure to completely fill out your survey profile in order to match with the most applicable surveys. By completing surveys, you are influencing products and services of the next generation.

Completing tasks- You can make about double what you make viewing ads by completing tasks, but they aren’t always available. The amount per task is on its difficulty level. To start out, you will be a beginner, but after completing more and more tasks, you can level up and get better paying tasks. As your level increases, so does the difficulty.

Tasks are completed via CrowdFlower and you can complete simple tasks, earn bonuses, and participate in weekly contests as well.

Cash offers- Get paid to try new products and services, download apps, sign up for websites, watch videos, and more. The reward varies with the kind of offer and have to be verified before you receive compensation. To receive rewards for offers, you will have to follow the directions, submit the confirmations, and then wait for it to be approved.

There are 13 different companies that provide cash offers, so you should be able to find something that agrees with you.

Referrals- Friend referrals may be one of the easiest ways to earn on ClixSense. There is no limit to how many referrals you can make and you earn 20% of what they earn. This doesn’t take away from their earnings, so you don’t have to worry about that. If you invite a few well-earning friends, your workload can be made considerable less.

ClixGrid- This is similar to clicking on ads, but instead, of getting paid, you get chances to win up to $10. There is no strategy to this; it’s purely chance. Winners I saw listed had mostly won $1 or $5, but it all adds up! You may hit the $10 jackpot, so just keep trying. It doesn’t cost anything to try. You will have to watch a short ad, but it’s worth it if you win something.

As you can see, there are several ways of earning on ClixSense. In addition to the different ways of making money, they also offer a bunch of free games you can play. You can’t win anything, but you do get to play for free.

The minimum cash payout is $10 and you can get it electronically via Paytoo, Payzo, Tango Card, or Payoneer. US/Canada residents have to provide proof of address before getting electronic cash-outs.

By receiving a paper check first, which will have a pin number, you will have to use the pin to verify your address. From then on, you can use one of the electronic payment services.

PayPal is no longer a choice for cashing out via ClixSense. When requesting a check, the request needs to be made before the fifth of each month; checks are sent out once a month on the tenth. Electronic cash-outs take 4-5 business days.

What’s good about ClixSense?

I like that there are several ways to earn money. Although ClixSense isn’t accredited by the BBB, they still maintain an A- rating. Their User Agreement is what you would expect for a site like this, no surprises there.

The cash-out amount isn’t too high; ten dollars is one of the lowest pay outs available on survey, PTC, and GPT sites. It also seems this is one of the few sites that has always paid its members.

They seem to be very happy with this site; complaints are few and far between. You can buy a Premium membership for $17 a year or $30 for two and receive bonuses, better referral awards, and more chances to win, better paying surveys, and higher paying ads.

What’s not so good about ClixSense?

There are a few things I don’t like about this site. One, it is hard to make any substantial amount of money. Most tasks are worth pennies, which do add up after a while. Their Privacy Policy leaves a little to be desired and since they were hacked last year, I would have expected a tighter policy.

Hackers gained access to a server which stored members personal information and it’s believed that this info was not only sold and but also made public. Although they have resumed business as usual, I’m a bit leery of joining.

Another reason is that members are often hit up with a mystery shopper email which a scam is being perpetrated using ClixSense name.

Is ClixSense a scam or a legit site?

This site is definitely NOT a scam. In fact, they have been growing in business since the start. The hack that happened last year is the worst thing that can actually be said about ClixSense.

Earning money on this site is slow to moderate. If you are more or less wasting time, it shouldn’t be a problem, but if you are wanting to earn better money, I’d suggest another site.

There’s plenty to choose from, just remember to check them out before joining. Good luck!
